Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron Wins Best Animation of the Year at 47th Japan Academy Film Prize Awards

The 47th Japan Academy Film Prize ceremony was held at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo on March 8, where The Boy and the Heron, Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in ten years, won the Best Animation of the Year award. In addition to this prestigious honor, BLUE GIANT, an anime film adaptation of Shinichi Ishizuka’s jazz-themed manga, won the Outstanding Achievement in Music award for its soundtrack produced by Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist Hiromi Uehara. Godzilla Minus One, the 30th Japanese Godzilla film produced by Toho, also received several awards, including Picture of the Year, Screenplay of the Year, and Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.
