Gintama Anime’s Courtesan of a Nation Arc Compilation Film Gets Release Date

Bandai Namco Pictures has just opened an official website for the upcoming new compilation film from the Gintama anime franchise, titled “Gintama on Theater 2D Ikkoku Keisei-hen.” The main visual for the film was also revealed, featuring the iconic characters of the series in a dramatic pose.

The film is based on the Courtesan of a Nation Arc from the TV anime’s 257th to 261st episodes, and will screen at Japanese theaters for a limited time of three weeks from June 21, 2024. In addition to the main film, there will also be extra footage and the sale of merchandise using newly illustrated designs. Theatregoers will also receive bonus items.

This new compilation film is part of the project to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the serialization of Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga and the broadcast of its TV anime adaptation. The first compilation film, “Gintama on Theater 2D: Baragaki-hen,” screened at theaters in Japan for a limited time from November 10, 2023, and ranked in the top 10 on the weekend box office ranking in its first weekend.
