🎶 YU-KA Releases Lyric Dance Video for “Rouge,” Theme Song of Winter 2024 Anime Metallic Rouge! 💃

Japanese singer-songwriter YU-KA has just dropped a stunning lyric dance video for her latest song, “Rouge,” which serves as the opening theme for the winter 2024 anime series Metallic Rouge. The song is included in her debut full album “Brighter,” released on January 17.

Directed by Kenichiro Shimizu, the dance video features YU, a member of the dance company ELEVENPLAY led by director/choreographer MIKIKO, performing an energetic and captivating routine inside a 4-sided LED panel. YU-KA herself even participated in the video, dressed in a mini-dress reminiscent of Rouge Redstar, the main character in Metallic Rouge.

In an interview, YU-KA shared the inspiration behind “Rouge,” saying that the song is about determination and holding onto one’s own identity while navigating between childhood and adulthood, cuteness and strength, and reason and instinct. She praised YU-sensei’s dance for capturing the intensity of calmness and expressed her joy at collaborating with him to convey this message through sound and visual.

Metallic Rouge is an upcoming anime series directed by Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday) at Studio BONES, with Yutaka Izubuchi (RahXephon) serving as chief director and handling series composition. Toshihiro Kawamoto (Cowboy Bebop) provides character designs, and Taisei Iwasaki (Blood Blockade Battlefront) composes the music.
