Haikyu!! Continues to Dominate Japanese Box Office with 5 Billion Yen Gross

The first part of the Haikyu!! FINAL anime film has continued its streak at the Japanese box office, grossing over 5 billion yen in just 17 days. According to Kogyo Tsushin, the film passed this milestone on March 3rd, with a total of 3.59 million tickets sold. This is a remarkable achievement, considering that it took other popular films such as Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, Code Blue, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker several days longer to reach this milestone.

Haikyu!! FINAL’s first anime film has proven to be a box office success, with the film repeating its number one position in its second weekend. Toho Animation is credited with producing the two Haikyu!! FINAL anime films, with the animation being handled by Production I.G., led by director Susumu Mitsunaka and screenwriter Takahiro Kishida. The first film, subtitled “Gomisuteba no Kessen,” was released in Japan on February 16th, 2024, with no date announced for the second film.

Haikyu!!, which originally ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 20th, 2012, to July 20th, 2020, has had all 402 chapters collected into 45 volumes. The chapters are available in English on the Shonen Jump app. Crunchyroll is also streaming all four TV anime seasons of the Haikyu!! adaptation, describing it as “a thrilling and emotional ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat!”
